It’s very important to be well-informed parents. Strong sunrays, sun tanning, high heat and kids just don’t mix! Babies less than 6 months old should never be directly exposed to the sun at peak times. Their young skin is simply too sensitive and prone to burning. Therefore even the shade of your beach umbrella may not be enough to protect them.
All young children should wear sunscreen above SPF 30. Always remember to apply 30 minutes before exposure to the sun and every 2 hours subsequently.
When your kids get out of the water, dry them with a towel and dress them in light colored clothing with a hat and sunglasses. Reapply sunscreen and keep them in the shade. It’s extremely important to teach our kids from a young age how to properly protect themselves from the sun. Old habits die hard, they say!
For thousands of years, pale skin was considered beautiful and a mark of aristocracy. Recently however, it seems the more sunburnt you are, the more fashionable and enviable you become! But today, let’s all choose healthy skin as our new favorite look!
