When exactly does spring cleaning start? Some people argue that it begins the first week of March, while others strictly believe it’s the last. Even if we can’t agree on which week it really starts, one thing almost everyone agrees with is that Spring Cleaning takes place in the month of March. So now is the time-let’s get to cleaning! Here are a few tips on how to start:
Spot check
Firstly, take a look around- although you should be cleaning every spot of the house, there are certainly spots that need a bit more extra time and care than others. So take note. Spot checking helps you get your cleaning list in order, so that you know exactly what you have to clean, and exactly what else you need to clean it.
Get your list ready
Getting your cleaning check list in order before you start cleaning is crucial to the success of this housework venture. Make sure to make your check list at least a few days before you plan to start your cleaning. This way, you will be able to account for any cleaning products you don’t have that you may need more time to run out to the store and pick up. After all, it has been a whole year since your last spring cleaning! Not sure how to make your list? Don't worry, we have one ready for you! Download and print out our spring cleaning checklist here.
De-Clutter
We can’t stress enough the importance of de cluttering. De cluttering is so important because even though you may think you can get around doing it, we are here to tell you-you can’t. Spring cleaning simply isn’t spring cleaning unless it is carried out the full, hard core spring cleaning way, by de cluttering your house. If you skip removing all the clutter you have collected over a years’ time around the house, you are actually making your spring cleaning harder for yourself. The less there is in the way of cleaning, the easier and faster it will be to clean. De cluttering does not have to happen all in one day. Try de cluttering little by little each day. See a pile of old receipts in the kitchen? Throw them away. Have some cardboard shoe boxes stored away in your closet since Christmas? Throw them out! By doing a little each day you will easily de clutter your house, and in the end, be much more satisfied with your spring cleaning results.
Make a playlist
Grab your microphone mop handle, and get to cleaning with your spring cleaning play list! Making a play list long enough to keep you entertained during your spring cleaning is an important factor to remember when making your list of musical reinforcement. Depending on the size of your home, you may be cleaning for a whole day, half a day, or a few hours in the morning. However long you need to clean for, make sure to take time into account when creating your playlist so that the music doesn’t cut in the middle of sorting the living room, and throwing you off track!
