Salt dough ornaments are a classic craft that your kids will love to make. They are very easy to make and all you will need are the ingredients for the dough, some cookies cut outs to shape the ornaments e.g. tree, stars, sticks, santa claus, paints and glitter if you wish and some thread or ribbon.

Ingredients for the dough

4 cups all purpose flour

1 cup salt

1 ½ cups warm water

Method

Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl. Knead until the dough is firm and smooth. Roll out dough and use the cookie cut outs you have to create different shapes. Use a straw to poke a hole for hanging. Bake at 150C until the biscuits are dry, approximately 1 hour. Let them cool completely.

Once cool, place them on a surface and paint them. Let the ornaments dry. Hang them on the tree with a thread or a ribbon.
