Everyone loves games, and there’s no better time than New Year’s Eve, when we are gathered at home waiting for the year to come to an end. Instead of silently watching TV, here are some games you can play to have fun and pass the time!
Palermo
A classic game!
It is usually played by 5 people or more and the only thing you need are some playing cards, one for each player. You decide among yourselves which card will be the Killer and which the Spy.
Once you have done so, deal one card to each player. After everyone sees their card, they close their eyes and the Killer discreetly raises his hand. The Spy opens his eyes and sees who the Killer is, and then everyone opens their eyes. The aim of the game is for players to find the Killer through discussion, while the Spy discreetly tries to "nudge" the players towards the Killer’s identity, at the same time avoiding being recognized by the Killer!
At the end of each round, all players vote on who they think the Killer is, and the player with the most votes is ejected from the game and reveals his card. If it's not the Killer, the game goes on! Before the next round begins, the Killer secretly points to one player who will be ‘killed’ and will not continue to the next round. That player leaves the game but doesn’t reveal his card!
Charades
Get ready for roaring laughter and plenty of physical comedy!
The rules are simple: players are divided into 2 teams and in each round, the opposing team secretly tells a player from the other team a word or phrase. You can limit the topic if you want e.g. movies, songs or sayings. The player has 1 minute at his disposal to make his teammates guess the word, using only gestures and faces.
Who am I?
For this game you will need pencils or pens and post-It notes.
Each player writes on a piece of post-it the name of a famous person, real or fictional. Each player gives their paper to the player to their left and everyone at once they stick it to their forehead with the side that has the character’s name facing outwards.
Each player then has 5 minutes to ask the others various questions to find out which character they are!
2 lies and 1 truth
A game to get to know each other better!
Each player tells the others 2 truths and 1 lie about themselves, and the others try to figure out which of the 3 things they heard is a lie.
Have fun and happy new year!
