Ready to tackle spring cleaning? No one is. But it is something most of us if not all of us need to do. We know for some of you it’s one of those things you put on your list, and purposely avoid until the last minute, and for others, you’re not exactly trying to put it off, but your busy schedule just keeps getting in the way of you starting and finishing once and for all. We know spring cleaning is not a one step process, and we know it can take quite a bit of time, so here are some spring cleaning shortcuts for you to try out!
Cleaning the microwave
No muscle? No problem. Unlike the way you normally try to clean the inside of your microwave (by scrubbing and scrubbing and using as much muscle strength as you can to get the tough grease stains out) Now, you can use this easy shortcut! In a microwave safe bowl, fill half the bowl with water and half the bowl with vinegar. Place it in the microwave and set for 5 minutes. After the five minutes are up, without opening the microwave, allow the bowl to sit in the microwave for an additional five minutes in order for it to cool. After the total of ten minutes have passed, take out the bowl and using a clean sponge, watch the tough stains effortlessly come off! No “elbow grease” needed!
Vacuum your curtains
Instead of taking down the entire curtain rod, and dragging heavy curtains to the laundry machine to clean, simply take a vacuum hand attachment, and vacuum your curtains! Vacuuming curtains will just as easily get rid of the dust that has collected on them as good as washing them would.
Get multipurpose cleaning supplies!
This one sounds like a no-brainer, right? But it’s surprising how often people forget to remember that yes, there is multipurpose cleaning supplies! Many people go to the store looking to buy the top brand of specific cleaning supplies that target specific places, when really- this isn’t totally necessary. As a short cut and a way to save an impressive amount of time traveling back and forth to your supply closet to change supplies, simply buy multipurpose cleaning products. This way, you can take them with you along every phase of your spring cleaning journey, without wasting so much time going back and forth.
Boil your pots to clean, just like you would to cook!
The same way you cook in your pots, is the same way you should clean them! With this short cut, instead of spending so much time scrubbing away at heavy to fight stains, simply pour a cup of vinegar into your pots and bring it to a boil. Once the vinegar has come to a boil, switch off the stove top and let it sit for another 5-10 minutes. Lastly, rinse out your pot, and watch the once tough stains turn weak as you effortlessly wash them away.
Cleaning your ceiling fan
Let me guess- you are probably thinking “what solution could possibly exist for the ceiling fan?” Well, using an old pillow case is the perfect short cut for this hard to reach space. The ceiling fan is a place where most of us probably don’t get to cleaning that often, so there’s no shame in admitting that the dust on the top of your ceiling fan has literally ‘piled’ up. Instead of normally dusting the top, allowing the particles to fall to the ground, and cleaning the ground after, slide each fan blade inside of the pillow case, and pull the case back towards yourself with a little bit of pressure against both sides of the blade in order to make sure you are pulling off all of the dust into the pillow case. This short cut is great because you can avoid the mess of dust particles falling to the ground, and save time in having to clean them up. After you finish cleaning the blades, throw the pillow case into the laundry, and it will be good as new!
