Once again this year METRO supermarkets organized their 8th annual METRO Animal Day, on Animal Adoption Day, with the aim to support animal welfare organizations and the well-being of stray animals here in Cyprus.
The event took place on Sunday, October 15th, at the METRO supermarkets in Nicosia, Larnaca, and Limassol, where a total of 6 animal welfare organizations brought their stray animals that are cared for at METRO to find new families and a real home. The people who attended had the opportunity to meet the animals from the shelters and adopt their own, as well as buy souvenirs for the financial support of the animal welfare organizations. The event was a tremendous success this year, after a total of 44 dogs and 25 cats were adopted, more than any other year before.
METRO contributed €20 euro in each adoption package for veterinary expenses, and PURINA provided €20 euros for each adopted animal.
The volunteers of the animal welfare organizations that participated were completely satisfied with the amount of people who showed up and how genuine their interest was for stray animals.
METRO Animal Day has become not only a tradition, but an institution, and is the largest and most organized effort to strengthen the work of animal welfare organizations here in Cyprus.
