We love seafood, and we love Souvlaki… So we decided to combine two of our favourite foods together and create, Seafood Souvlaki! Seafood Souvlaki is not only unbelievably delicious, but it is also a healthier alternative to the traditional meat souvlaki.
You will need (for 4 people):
- Skewers (wooden or metal)
- 400 gr octopus
- 400 gr peeled tiger shrimp
- 400 gr whole calamari
- 1 red, 1 yellow, and 1 green bell pepper
- 1 tbsp οregano
- Salt
- 1 cl. garlic, chopped in small piecers
- 1 lemon, its juice
- 1 glass of white wine
- Sauce brush
Directions:
Firstly, if you are cooking with wooden skewers, make sure to soak them in a bowl of white wine 20 minutes before preparation for added flavour.
Secondly, prepare your seafood by chopping your octopus, calamari, and shrimps into medium sized pieces.
Next, wash and dry your peppers, and cut them into small-medium sized square pieces.
After preparing both your seafood and your vegetables, prepare the sauce by combining the lemon juice, a table spoon of oregano, 2 teaspoons of salt, and garlic.
Application:
Start by sliding your three different seafood’s onto your skewers. You should do so by having three pieces of seafood for every two peppers. For example, try stacking it first with Octopus, Calamari, Shrimp, and then two pieces of peppers. Repeat this until the skewers are filled, and continue until you have used all of your seafood and bell pepper pieces.
After you finish your skewers, using a sauce brush, dip the brush into the marinate you prepared and brush the sauce onto all of the skewers.
Grill over a medium flame until the seafood is cooked evenly on all sides. Sprinkle a little extra oregano on top with a lemon wedge on the side, and dig in!
