New Year's Eve is traditionally the time when we enjoy champagne and other sparkling wines in abundance! Here are 2 cocktail recipes that you can easily do at home and serve your guests before dinner.
Ingredients (1 cocktail)
40 ml Campari
40 ml sweet red vermouth
40 ml prosecco or other sparkling wine
Ice
Thinly cut slices of orange peel
Method
Add vermouth and Campari to a mixing glass filled with ice. Stir to combine and chill. Strain into Champagne flute. Top with prosecco and stir again. Serve with a thinly cut slice of orange peel
You can also serve it in a low, old-fashioned glass.
Festive Mimosa
This is a variation of the classic cocktail made with champagne or other sparkling wine. Here we use pomegranate, for luck!
Ingredients (For 4 cocktails)
1 cup pomegranate juice
1 bottle champagne
Pomegranate seeds for garnish, if you wish
Brown sugar for garnish, if you wish
Method
If you are going to have brown sugar on the glass rim, first of all, mix in a wide dish some sugar with a bit of pomegranate juice just to get it slightly wet. Place the glasses of the champagne upside down until the sugar is spread over the flute rim.
In champagne flutes, fill with 1/4 cup sweetened pomegranate juice and top off with champagne. Garnish with pomegranate seeds if you wish.
