Ingredients

1 ½  Kg all purpose flour, sifted

250 gr butter

500 gr sugar

3 eggs

1/2 cup orange juice

1/2 cup milk

1 tbsp ammonia

10 gr baking powder

1/2 gr soda

2-3 vanilla sticks

Zest of 2-3 oranges

Sesame and 2-3 eggs for coating

Method
Preheat the oven to 200C.
In a small saucepan warm the milk and the vanilla - do not burn the milk. In a saucepan melt the butter. Transfer it to a large bowl, add the sugar and beat with the mixer. Add the eggs one by one while continuing the mixing and then add the baking powder. Dissolve the soda in the orange juice in a bowl. As the soda when dissolved in the juice will get bubbly, it is good to keep this bowl over the mixture. Add it to the egg-sugar mixture.
Dissolve ammonia in warm milk in the same way, over the bowl and mix. Add the flour gradually, continuing the mixing.
When the dough gets a bit heavier and begins to solidify, stop the mixer and continue the kneading with your hand. Add the flour until the dough does not stick to the hands. Dough should not solidify much, but be relatively soft.
Start shaping the Easter biscuits. Take a walnut-sized quantity and open it in a long cane. Twist in the classic shape of the braid with three canes. Place the biscuits In a baking sheet,  at a distance of 3-4 cm as the will expand during baking.
In a bowl, beat 2-3 eggs with sesame and brush the biscuits with the mix, making sure that there is sesame on all biscuits. The egg will give the biscuits a nice golden colour. Bake at 200C for 15-20 minutes.
